The Fulcrum Issue 32
Spring 2004
From time to time a particular issue of The Fulcrum takes on a life of its own and gravitates towards a specific subject. The last issue themed itself around boundaries and this one has collected information related to cancer. T ony Jackson writes of his experience of diagnosis of cancer and the subsequent physical and emotional changes he lived through. His search for different treatment possibilities is both deeply personal and representative of the dilemmas that many go through. The methods he chose and the way he implemented them were part of a process which changed not only him and his partner but also friends, family and his perception of self and other. T ony also addresses some of the political issues related to modern medicine. Looking at other methods, two of the books reviewed deal with diverse aspects of cancer from the technological medical approach.
